If ever there were two people who are meant for each other, it’s these two.  I met Lauren & Mike at the beginning of this year over coffee and the three of us hit it off immediately.  They’re both funny and down-to-earth.  Not to mention that Lauren is a total badass…not only is she in med school on her way to becoming a doctor, but she’s a roller derby player.

The unique touches to this wedding were so awesome.  Instead of an engagement ring, Mike gave Lauren this necklace, and the earrings that she wore were roller skates.

I met the girls around noon at the hotel and hung out with them while they did their makeup and hair.  Their friend Kelsey did Lauren’s makeup and another friend did her hair.

Lauren & Mike chose to have a first look before their ceremony.  There’s a little gazebo on the property of the Lamplighter, so we had Mike wait there while Lauren came up behind him.

I love their playfulness!  So cute!

Friends and family gathered inside the ballroom for the intimate ceremony.  Lauren and Mike wrote their own vows, and their friend Taylor did an amazing job of officiating.

After dinner was over, the fun times got going.  The couple had their first dance and parent dances before Mike surprised Lauren by bringing the groomsmen out onto the dance floor and dancing to Thriller.  Her reaction was priceless, as she looked at the DJ and said, “It’s too early for this song!”

This bridal party was such an amazing, eclectic group of people.  My associate shooter for the day, Liz of Liz Capuano Photography and I had so much fun working with them!

Lauren and Mike made their portraits so easy.  They’re fun people and were up for anything.  So when Mike jokingly asked about incorporating a large pile of trash that was out back of their hotel, Liz and I were like “Let’s do it.  Seriously.”

And when Mike told Lauren about how he and the groomsmen had climbed on top of a truck in the parking lot during their photos, she said, “I’m climbing the truck!”  (For the record, her maid of honor did ask if she could veto it LOL.)

Mike and Lauren, you are amazing people, and an even more amazing couple.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing me to capture these memories for you!
