Schenley Park Engagement Session | Rachel & Andrew | Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer

August 20, 2017

I first met Rachel at her sister’s wedding back in October.  She and Andrew got engaged just a few months later and asked me to photograph their engagement and wedding photos as well!  They’ll be tying the knot next July at one of my favorite churches St. Bernard’s with a reception at the Doubletree in Greentree.

I met these two downtown at PPG Paints Arena to snag a few shots of them in their hockey jerseys since Andrew is a big Pittsburgh Penguins fan.  I love when couples show their pride for their Pittsburgh sports teams!

The whole time we were downtown, we were watching these dark clouds looming in the distance and hoping that they stayed away for an hour or so.

No such luck.  Just as we got out of our cars in at Phipps Conservatory for the remainder of the session, the drops started falling, so we headed for the cover of trees in Schenley Park.  While we waited out the downpour, I had them snuggle up and do some slow dancing in the rain.

This is one of my favorite spots in Schenley Park.  It’s so peaceful (plus it’s gorgeous in the fall!)

The rain seemed like it had let up a little bit, so we headed farther up the hill, only for it to start up again.  So as these two good sports waited it out under an umbrella, I hid under a tree protecting my gear.  But when it finally stopped, it stopped for good and we got totally amazing light for the remainder of our session.

We walked back down the hill and crossed back over to Phipps to take some photos.  The clouds were burning away to leave really pretty golden light that was shining through the trees.

We finished up by walking over to the little courtyard at Phipps Hall of Botany, a building with a really cool doorway and lots of pretty flowers.

Rachel & Andrew, I’m so thrilled that you chose me to capture these special times and I can’t wait for your wedding!
